Types of Machine Learning

Three main types of learning.

1. Supervised Learning

AI learns from labeled examples.

Example: Email spam detection

• Show AI 1000 emails labeled "spam" or "not spam"
• AI learns the difference
• Now AI can classify new emails

Real Use: House price prediction in Miami

2. Unsupervised Learning

AI finds patterns without labels.

Example: Customer grouping

• Give AI customer data
• AI groups similar customers automatically
• No labels needed!

Real Use: Netflix grouping similar movies

3. Reinforcement Learning

AI learns by trial and error.

Example: Teaching AI to play chess

• AI tries moves
• Gets reward for good moves
• Gets penalty for bad moves
• Learns which moves are best

Real Use: Self-driving cars, game AI

Which to Use?

• Supervised: When you have labeled data
• Unsupervised: When you want to find patterns
• Reinforcement: When AI needs to make decisions
